What the numbers pay for

You need at least 25/50/20 liability coverage in Montana. For each injured person, it provides $25,000. For everyone injured in one crash, it provides $50,000. Damage to other people's property is covered up to $20,000.

These limits often fall short of medical bills and the cost of a newer car. You may face claims for anything above these limits, leading many drivers to select 100/300/100 instead. The average annual cost of a liability policy in Montana is $530.

Driving with no insurance

You can lose your license and registration if you drive uninsured in Montana. You may have to submit proof of insurance for several years to get them back.
