Utah's legal minimum
Utah law sets the minimum liability coverage at 30/65/25. Each person hurt in a crash is covered up to $30,000, everyone hurt in one crash up to $65,000, and damage to other people's property up to $25,000.
Utah follows a no-fault system: after a crash, your own policy pays your medical bills, whoever caused it.
You aren't required to have uninsured motorist cover. Insurers still have to offer it in most states.

How many Utah drivers lack insurance?
In 2023, about 6% of Utah drivers had no car insurance, the 50th highest share of the 51. If one of those drivers hits you, uninsured motorist cover pays your bills.
