How the filing affects your price
The filing costs little, but the offense that led to it raises your premium.
The state rate guides we use show a price increase to about 1.5 times after one at-fault accident.
Minnesota's average liability cost is $586, so the yearly price would be about $879.
Steps to get a filing
- Not every company files the form with the state, so ask your insurer to do so.
- Don't own a car? A non-owner policy can include the filing.
- Keep paying for your policy. The state receives notice of any lapse, which can restart the clock.
