Coverage provided by each amount
Illinois drivers must carry at least 25/50/20 liability coverage. That gives $25,000 per person hurt, $50,000 for all injured people in one crash and $20,000 to cover damage to other people's property.
These limits often fall short of what medical bills and a newer car cost. Anything higher than these limits can be claimed from you, which is why many drivers buy 100/300/100. The average annual cost for a liability policy in Illinois is $649.
If you drive with no insurance
If you drive uninsured in Illinois, you may lose your license and registration. You may have to submit proof of insurance for several years to get both back.
