What each number covers
In Tennessee, at least 25/50/25 liability coverage is required. Each injured person is covered for $25,000, all injured people in one crash for $50,000 and damage to other people's property for $25,000.
These limits often fall short of what medical bills and a newer car cost. Drivers can have amounts above these limits claimed from them, so many buy 100/300/100 instead. A liability policy costs $599 a year on average in Tennessee.
Driving without insurance
If you drive uninsured in Tennessee, you can lose your license and registration. Getting them back may mean filing proof of insurance for several years.
Questions go to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, Driver Services.
