What the coverage amounts pay for
At least 25/50/25 liability coverage is required in West Virginia. Each person hurt is covered for $25,000, and injuries in one crash are covered for $50,000. Other people's property damage is covered for $25,000.
Medical bills and the cost of a newer car often exceed these limits. You can be held responsible for any amount above those limits. Because of this, many drivers instead buy 100/300/100. The average cost of a liability policy in West Virginia is $567 a year.
Driving with no insurance
If you drive uninsured in West Virginia, it can cost you your license and registration. You may have to submit proof of insurance for several years to recover them.
