What you still pay with minimum coverage
At a minimum, Louisiana requires 15/30/25 liability coverage. Each person hurt is covered up to $15,000. Everyone hurt in one crash is covered up to $30,000, and damage to other people's property up to $25,000.
With liability coverage, the other people are the ones who get paid. Unless you add collision coverage, you pay for repairs to your own car.
If crash costs exceed your limits, the remaining amount can be claimed from you. Paying for higher limits usually costs far less than the extra protection you receive.
