How it affects your price
The filing costs little, but the offense that led to it raises your premium.
According to the state rate guides we use, a price rises about 1.5 times after one at-fault accident.
With an Iowa liability average of $427, the yearly cost would be about $640.
Ways to get one
- Not every company files the form for you, so ask your insurer to submit it to the state.
- Do you have no car? A non-owner policy can include the filing.
- Keep your policy paid. The state receives notice of any lapse, and this can restart the clock.
