Maryland SR-22 requirements
Maryland doesn't use the SR-22 form. Instead, the state asks for FR-19 (Maryland insurance certification that the insurer submits electronically).
If Maryland finds that a registered vehicle has no insurance, it sends an insurance violation notice with a penalty. Registration may be suspended when the penalty goes unpaid.

Its effect on your price
The filing costs little on its own.; the offense behind it is what raises the premium.
According to the state rate guides we use, a single at-fault accident raises the price about 1.5 times.
Based on Maryland's liability average of $944, the yearly cost would be about $1,416.
Getting a filing
- Ask your insurer to submit the form to the state; some companies don't.
- Don't own a car? A non-owner policy can include the filing.
- Keep your policy payments current. The state receives notice of a lapse, which can restart the clock.
