What the limits pay for
In Missouri, drivers need at least 25/50/25 liability coverage. Each person hurt in a crash is covered up to $25,000, and everyone hurt in that crash up to $50,000. Property damage to others is covered up to $25,000.
Medical bills often cost more than these limits, and so does a newer car. Beyond those limits, the extra amount can be claimed from you, which is why many drivers buy 100/300/100 instead. A liability policy in Missouri costs $669 a year on average.
Driving without insurance
Drive uninsured in Missouri and you risk losing your license and registration. Getting both back may mean filing proof of insurance for several years.
