How it affects your price
A filing is cheap, while the offense that led to it raises your insurance rate.
One at-fault accident in the state rate guides we use raises a price by about a factor of 1.5.
Using Utah's average liability cost of $812, the annual total would be about $1,218.
How to get a filing
- To get the form filed with the state, ask your insurer; not every company does that.
- Don't own a car? A policy for non-owners can carry the filing.
- Make sure the policy's payments stay current. The state receives reports of any lapse, which can reset the required period.
