What the limits cover
The minimum liability limit in Maine is 50/100/25. Per person, injuries are covered to $50,000, injuries in one crash to $100,000, and harm to other people's property to $25,000.
A newer car and medical bills often exceed these limits. If costs go above them, others can claim from you, so many drivers pick 100/300/100 instead. In Maine, a liability policy averages $446 a year.
Driving without insurance
If you drive uninsured in Maine, you risk losing your license and registration. Getting them back may mean filing proof of insurance for several years.
