What the coverage amounts cover

In Washington, drivers must carry liability coverage of at least 25/50/10. Each person hurt in one crash may receive up to $25,000, while everyone hurt may receive up to $50,000. Property damage to others is covered up to $10,000.

The cost of medical care and a newer car often goes above these limits. Claims can be made against you for anything above these limits, so many drivers choose 100/300/100 instead. The average cost of a liability policy in Washington is $834 per year.

Driving without insurance

If you drive uninsured in Washington, it can cost you your license and registration. Restoring them may require you to submit proof of insurance for several years.
