How it affects your price

The filing costs little, but the offense behind it raises your premium.

The state rate guides we use show one at-fault accident raising a price about 1.5 times.

With a Washington liability average of $834, the annual cost would be about $1,252.

Getting a filing

  • To have the form filed with the state, ask your insurer. Not every company will do this.
  • Don't own a car? A non-owner policy can include the filing.
  • Keep your policy payments current. After a coverage lapse, the state receives a report and the clock can restart.
