The costs each number covers
Alaska requires liability coverage of at least 50/100/25. Each person hurt is covered for $50,000. Everyone hurt in one crash is covered for $100,000. Damage to other people's property is covered for $25,000.
These limits often don't cover the full cost of medical bills or a newer car. Costs beyond those limits can be claimed from you, which is why many drivers buy 100/300/100. In Alaska, an average liability policy costs $680 each year.
Driving without insurance
Both your license and registration are at risk if you drive uninsured in Alaska. To recover them, you may have to submit proof of insurance for several years.
