What it does to your price
The filing itself is cheap; the offense behind it is what raises the premium.
In the state rate guides we use, one at-fault accident raises a price about 1.5 times.
On the Delaware liability average of $1,045 that would be about $1,567 a year.
How to get one
- Ask your insurer to file the form with the state; not every company does.
- No car? A non-owner policy can carry the filing.
- Keep the policy paid. A lapse is reported to the state and can restart the clock.
